Edgemont Methodist Church changed things up a bit and served sausage, grits, biscuits, gravy, eggs and pancakes to our 49 guests.

Magnolia Church of Christ made a holiday meal of chicken and dressing, green beans, sweet potato casserole, cranberry sauce, rolls, gravy and pumpkin pie. We had 42 guests.

First Baptist prepared white beans and ham, cole slaw, cornbread and numerous cakes for our 58 guests. They also made gift bags of fruit and hot chocolate packets that were distributed.

First United Methodist served chicken and rice casserole, creamy broccoli soup, rolls and dessert to 61 guests. This church is also preparing a Christmas Take-Out Meal for our guests since The Shoals Community Soup Kitchen will be closed on Christmas Weekend.

Biggest crowd yet...82 guests! Edgemont Methodist prepared baked chicken, green beans, corn and jambalaya. First Presbyterian made a congealed salad and Temple Bnai Israel cooked the dessert. But with this size group food was supplemented with a quick run to KFC and the grocery store.

Special Holiday Announcement

The Shoals Community Soup Kitchen will be closed Friday, November 26 and Saturday November 27. First United Methodist Church is preparing a Thanksgiving Meal and our guests will be welcomed there.

The men from First Baptist were so great in the kitchen. They cooked so much food, messed up so many pots and pans and then cleaned them all. What a joy! They prepared biscuits, bacon, sausage, eggs, and grits. We served 59 guests.

Still low number of guests... only 31 braved the heat. First Presbyterian served a great meal of chicken stew, pimento cheese sandwiches, slaw (thanks to a wonderful contribution of cabbage from a local farmer), crackers and dessert.

This was a first for us. The fellowship hall at FPC was reserved for an in-house function so the Soup Kitchen moved to the courtyard. The weather was a little muggy but no rain. FPC grilled hot dogs and served them with cookies prepared by the Temple. What a fun event.

Today was full of firsts! This was First Baptist of Florence first time preparing our meal. They prepared and served brunch which was also a first. Our 45 guests enjoyed sausage and egg casserole, hash brown casserole, a wonderful assortment of fresh fruit, muffins and orange juice. Alpha Mu Lambda Fraternity supplied 6 hard-working volunteers; this was the first time a fraternity has helped. It was a great day.

We served 32 guests today but it felt like more because we had so many volunteers mainly from First United Methodist, but also from First Presbyterian, UNA and Florence HS. It was a great day! Taco soup with corn chips and shredded cheese was the main course. Dessert was an assortment of cake, brownies and cookies. Guests were also treated to fresh apples and oranges.
